Pre Analysis : East Bengal Vs Army Red
East Bengal is all set for their opening game in the 129th edition of DurandCup, where they hold the title of a most successful team in the history of this competition along with their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan. Mohun Bagan and East Bengal both won this competition 16th times each.

The Red and Golden had a disappointing season last time, they lose to Chennaiyan Fc in the I-League. Their Performance in the CFL was not at par last season but the only good thing happened to them their graffer Alejandro Mendez who founds many talents like Jobby Justine, Chullova, Ralte and many more.
Before this season started, they lose so many players like Jobby, Chullova, Jhony Acosta and now East Bengal is settling with only local youth talents like Pintu Mahato, Abhijit Sarkar.
East Bengal wants the service of L.Ralte, Kashim Aidara and Borja Perez in the defence line, and Pintu Mahato, L.Ralte, B.Haokip and Abhijit Sarkar is been in the charge of midfield and forward line.
East Bengal graffer Alejandro Mendez added, " we are really unhappy with the fixture, but we are here not for practice we are here to play and win matches." Mendez told in the pre-match conference in Kolkata.
Army Red
Army XI who is now renamed as Army Red football team is not a professional team but they are a tough challenge for every team. Army Red only appeared six times in this tournament but they lift the trophy in the year 2005.
